Films at Field Hall: Blues Brothers

The infamous Blues Brothers are on a mission from God – and you’re invited! Join us in the Sunset Lounge before the movie screening for dinner and drinks. Costume and theatrical dress encouraged!

After his release from prison, Jake (John Belushi) reunites with his brother, Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) — collectively known as the “Blues Brothers.” Jake’s first task is to save the orphanage the brothers grew up in from closing, by raising $5,000 to pay back taxes. The two are convinced they can earn the money by getting their old band back together. However, after playing several gigs and making a few enemies, including the police, the brothers face daunting odds to deliver the money on time.

Field Hall Presents: The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy

Space traveler Egon Tichy likes his quiet time.

But when his ship gets hit by a chunk of interstellar detritus, he’s sent careening into a minefield of time vortexes. This slapstick science-fiction adventure propels Sinking Ship and Theater in Quarantine into their most technically ambitious production to date, improbably trapping performer Joshua William Gelb amidst an exponentially expanding cast of one.

This is a live multi-media performance including both a live actor onstage and video overlay.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Sinking Ship Productions (www.sinkingshipproductions.com) a New York-based theater company, is the creative collaboration between Jonathan Levin and Josh Luxenberg. We work with a core group of Associate Artists, combining physical theater, puppetry, music and movement in delightful, strange and unexpected ways. Sinking Ship creates work that is the theatrical version of circumnavigating the globe in a questionably seaworthy vessel: grand and ridiculous, unadvisedly ambitious, and possibly delusional as we sail full tilt to the horizon.

Theater in Quarantine (youtube.com/theaterinquarantine) is an Obie and Drama League Award-winning performance laboratory dedicated to the exploration of the live theatrical experience in the digital space. Established in response to the pandemic, TiQ has developed and live-streamed dozens of visually distinctive, original works to its YouTube channel, working out of a closet in the East Village that’s only 8 sq feet.

Theater in Quarantine merges the live and the digital — embracing 21st century solutions to the question of “what is “theatrical”? Our digital and hybrid programming spans genres and styles, with world premieres of new plays, new musicals, adaptations of classic texts, dance, and site-specific art installations.

The accessibility of the digital form has allowed us to reach audiences around the globe, with our viewership growing from just a handful to thousands. Theater in Quarantine has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, Japan’s NHK Television, and has been profiled in The New Yorker and The New York Times. Within a single year Theater in Quarantine has been a five-time New York Times Critic’s Pick as well as one of Vulture’s “Top 10 Best Theater Moments of 2020” and among the New York Times’ “Best Theater of 2021.”

During the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic Theater in Quarantine was run by Co-Creative Directors Joshua William Gelb and Katie Rose McLaughlin, collaborating remotely with over a hundred collaborators and reaching audiences across the globe. Presenting partners include The Invisible Dog, Theater Mitu, LaMama, CultureHub, New Georges, CulturalDC, A2SF, the Exponential Festival, and NYUSkirball. TiQ continues to create new and exciting digital performances for both in-person and digital audiences.

The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa Fasthorse

The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa Fasthorse, the first Native American woman playwright to have her work on Broadway, is coming just in time for the holidays!  Field Arts & Events Hall on November 22nd. Tickets are available at the door at both locations: $20 for general admission and free to PC students on the PC campus.

Directed by Dr. Lara Starcevich with set/costume design by Marissa Meek, The Thanksgiving Play is NOT your usual children’s holiday play. It’s a quick-witted satire of well-meaning but exhaustingly ‘woke’ teachers who attempt to create a politically correct elementary school play about the first Thanksgiving while struggling with their own biases and the lack of Native representation.

Larissa FastHorse is a Native American playwright and choreographer and, in 2023, she became the first known female Native American playwright produced on Broadway with The Thanksgiving Play at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater.

Director: Dr. Lara Starcevich
Designer: Marissa Meek
Filmmaker: Mark Schwartz
Field Hall support: Kendall Mahoney and Jordan Natali
Cast list: Marva Holmes, Alex Antunez, Arius White, Pat Owens, Melissa Hsu, George Delorey, Steve Boutelle, Brianna Palenik, Liam Hare, Dakota (Kit) Cassinelli, and Rich Hendricksen

Additional show: November 22 at Field Arts & Events Hall in Port Angeles (General admission $20).
Tickets will be available on the day of the performance at each location.

Field Hall Presents Samite: Resilience

Beautiful, powerful, personal and musical – “Resilience” is a play with the urgency of now combined with timeless stories of healing.

Internationally recognized musician, humanitarian, and artists Samite tells his life’s story in this multi-media one-man play. He tells the story of his emergence from the nightmare of life under Amin and Milton Obote (“… when the birds stopped singing”) to being a healer through the power of music.

Samite often includes a story or two in his concerts, but now he has turned his entire presentation inside out and the result is raw and bracing. Both performances of this show include an extended post-performance Q&A for authentic audience connection.

Jenner Fox: A John Prine Christmas

Ever wonder what John Prine has to do with Christmas? Ever wished the beloved songwriter had more to do with sleigh bells, eggnog, and Old Saint Nick?

In 1994 Prine released his 11th LP titled, “A John Prine Christmas.” The critics didn’t acclaim it much, but with titles such as “Silent Night All Day Long ” and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” it’s still Prine at his lovely wry best, bringing Christmas home.

We are proud to present “A John Prine Christmas” – a night of your favorite songs featuring folk troubadour and Prine scholar, Jenner Fox, with his all-star band. The evening will weave together Prine’s classic hits, his holiday themed songs, stories, and lots of singing along. Come prepared to laugh and cry and ho ho ho your way through celebrating a true American original.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS (www.jennerfox.com)
Made up of members from Pacific Northwest groups Polecat, Petty or Not and Skillethead, the Jenner Fox Band first assembled for a 240 mile cargo bicycle tour across Northern California in 2021. It clicked. They shared a sensibility for deep listening, three part harmonies, John Prine, and flat tires. Americana UK calls their most recent LP, “Evocative and revelatory…reminiscent of children’s books much loved by adults.” This band is not one to be missed.
